On Oct 22nd, the Informatics & Scientific Applications group will give an introduction to RNA-Seq covering the Bauer Sequencing Core, library preparation methods, and Illumina sequencing technology. The workshop will cover read preprocessing, alignment to a reference genome and transcript expression estimation.
On Oct 23rd, Informatics & Scientific Applications group will give an overview of genome assembly methods for next-generation sequencing data. The workshop cover data preprocessing, assembly tools including ALLPATHS-LG, SOAPdenovo, and ABySS, and quality control with tools like REAPR, BUSCO, and CEGMA. We will also briefly cover transcriptome assembly with Trinity.
